Bein's as how spring is almost here it's time to dust off the varmint rigs and get ready for those pesky ground dwelling rodents.

I have a variety of varmint rigs. I have three 788's, two in .223 and one in .222, a 700SPS in .223 and a 700VLS in .243. The 788's shoot, well, like all 788's. The 700SPS shoots better than it did when I first got it but not as good (yet) as the 788's and the .VLS shoots itty bitty groups as would be expected.

Here's my five varmint rigs. Top to bottom, 788 in .222. two 788's in .223, the 700SPS in .223 and the 700 VLS in .243.

Here's an "aggregate" group from all five. Five shots from each rifle at 100 yards. (again in the rain)

Not only is the pursuit of diggus holeuss a good spring and summer pastime, it gets us out with our various rifles to keep our shooting skills honed for the hunting of brown tasties come fall. Which is why I occasionally take the 300RUM out to shoot prairie dogs. Oh what a mess!

While the missus is doing her spring cleaning, I'll be in the gunroom doing my spring cleaning getting ready for digguss holeuss!!

This is as close as I have to a varmint rifle. My Rock River Arms Predator Pursuit. Standard .223 flavor.

The varmints I use it on don't live in the ground though.

I don't have any pictures of paper that are anywhere near that impressive, my best 5 shot group was just over 1/2" at 100 yards, but it seems to get the job done pretty well in the field.

Well if I can't get'r done with this stack of varmint/predator guns then it isn't going to get done.
Calibers: 22WinMag, .223, .204, .243, 22-250, and a 12 gauge just to keep things interesting.

Top one is a Win ultimate shadow in .243 wssm. Been working up loads for it, and settled on Vmax 58gr going right at 4000 fps and 1/2 moa groups. The next is a Tikka tactical .223, just got a new Vortex for it that needs to be mounted. The bottom two are for the close in bunnies and chucks ( mainly in our yard ). Marlin .17 HM2 and Ruger 10/22. Come on SPRING!

Sure like the looks of yours JLM, gotta admit I was checking the thread all monday and early tuesday hoping my number was called.

I forgot one. Remington VTR with triangle compensated barrel in 308. Been playing with it at long range and can hit the "gong" pretty regularly at 700 yards.
