My Ruger#1 .257 improved has a cracked forearm that can't be fixed. I have been around and found some unfinished forearms for a bit of $. MIne is also checkered, so I don't mind getting a custom forearm. Or should I go with a synthetic set and say goodbye to the wood? Any suggestions?

The problem will be matching the forearm and butt. Refinishing the butt and using the same stain on all the wood might do it but if the two woods are much different it never looks quite right.

all ruger#1's seem to have cheap looking wood for the forearm and beautiful wood for the stock. I would probably want it refinished in a pretty dark stain to hide the grains a little more? Just looking for options for where to get a new forearm without spending my life savings on it
