Did Tennessee get hosed?

I know Tennessee missed a field goal and had 2 blocked.
On the final play, Alabama blocked a field goal and the blocker ran towards the sideline. He pulled off his helmet in celebration(as I might have). Taking off the helmet is a penalty-ALWAYS!
If the helmet came off after the play was over, then time has expired, Alabama has possession, and the game is over.
HOWEVER!!! This is not the case. The blocked ball rolls to camera left where it is not possessed by either team so it is not yet dead so the play is not yet over, yet the Alabama player can be seen in the same frame without a helmet on(celebrating). This should have been penalized resulting in both a yardage walkoff and a re-kick for Tennessee.
I have been travelling all day, did anyone besides me catch this error? Am I right?

Sorry but they deserved to lose with two blocked field goals (and a miss). The play was over...The Alabama player did certainly didn't change the game.

This is coming from an ACC fan (read: college minor league football). I don't have a dog in the fight.
