Even though it was windy as hell, it sure beat hanging out in the other office.

Hanging out on the alkali flat.

Cool pics. Is that the male avocet in the second pic? (If I'm right I'll tell you how I knew)

Miller,

Great pics! What camera you using nowadays???
Still have my beat up fz10. It has been soaked in AK, beat up in the MT mountains, and although I somtimes have to turn it off and on several times for the auto focus to work correctly, it still does OK. I have been thinking pretty seriously about stepping up to a DSLR, but I also want to chase bears outside of MT next year. Maybe I can do both, but I will be damn poor.:D

Tis the season, I hope everyone is getting out and enjoying the outdoors and capturing a few moments to share with us.

Hey miller, if you wouldn't mind, Would you post what settings you are using....for some reason I just dont see those same results from my FZ-10.

One of the first things I do is "set" the "white set". First category under menu. I also try different aperture and shutter speeds, as well as bracketing from time to time. During most outdoor conditions I shoot at iso 100. Sometimes I use the "warm" setting just to try different shot types on the same critter. For moving critters I usually shoot at burst setting. Don't worry, lots of bad pics, but if I take enough I usually find a couple I like. Try different settings, for the snake I shot at "macro" and tried with and without a flash. I think the one I posted was without. Heck it's digital, try lots of different settings. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing some shots.
