I dont know If I mentioned this to anyone befor but the best place to buy fishing stuff is on ebay. I have always had good luck on there. You can get powerbaits for 1/3 or less of the price that you would pay normally.

I have watched a few reels that started out at good prices but by the time the bidding was over and you added shipping you can get a brand new reel for the price or less.Thats been my experience so far.
 
I stay away from the rod and reel section because of what you stated, however keep an eye on the lure section I think you will be suprised

I just bought a whole tackle box full of crap on ebay. I normaly dont do this but there were about 100 crankbaits and 40 spinner baits + worms lizzards etc got it all for around 150. I wonder if the stuff is anygood? hehe I guess I will find out soon.
