WHat is it? I have Marlin .44mag with a .431 groove dia.Factory bullets are .429,I know they shoot fine and so do the XTP's at .431.But in a Thompson Contender .44mag with a groove dia of .430 which should I shoot. Can I still use the .431 dia XTP's or do I need to go smaller.

Shane, You should be able to shoot any of the bullets in either gun. Some bullets are smaller for use in unusual caliber weapons like 44 russian and 44-40, 44 special, etc. I would use caution in working up loads and be vigilent for signs of pressure. This is the same condition you find with .223 bullets. Some are .223 diameter and some are .224 diameter. Only those are generally marked "Hornet" indicating use in the lower pressure 22 Hornet chambering.

Thanks danr55

I figured the factory goes to the minimum size for safety reasons(cover there own butt)

When I get the loads worked up I will let you know how they perform.
