Has anyone had any luck with the Speer bullets 40 or 45 gr. in a .22 Hornet, I found some for around $5.00 a hundred and was wondering if they were worth trying.

Fatman, I inherited some speer bullets in 40 grain when a friend passed away a couple of years ago. At the time, I was shooting a contender with a 14" barrel. If I recall correctly they were actually two different diameters. Some were 223 others were 224. If I am correct, the larger ones were a little finicky in the contender. I gave them to Glen, and he loaded them for a old singel shot that he has. They performed great for him. I went back to 40 grain ballistic tips.
