S.1088 - North Dakota Trust Lands Completion Act of 2023

Just found out about this yesterday. This effort has support accross the board from the Governor to the delegation. Quick summary is approx 30,000 acres of state trust lands within ND reservations would be considered for swaps for federal minerals or lands. I do believe the primary goal for the state is primarily to swap federal minerals for development, however my concern is that this bill would also allow for federal surface to be swapped for those trust lands and that is potentially very concerning.

This passed through Senate Committee this morning. Potential for a long time (nearly a year) before this does anything. Something to monitor over the next few months. I'll post when I know more.
