Idaho unit 66, 66A

I'm thinking about hunting Mule Deer in Idaho's units 66 or 66A this next season. Has anyone hunted there lately? I know that last winter hit the Mule Deer herds pretty hard.

Deer, like elk, drink water. I would start there.

i'd hike in to the backcountry for a couple days. bring a game cart. Make sure you have ammo, as hunting without ammo when youre an older hunter can be detrimental.

Make sure to drop a pin on the tallest tree in these units. The 2 legged predators are thick in that part of Idaho, and you only want to hang your meat, in the tallest of trees.

I've hunted those units pretty hard and every year was surprised at the pressure. We would backpack in several miles and still run into multiple groups of hunters every day, campfires all over at night. Don't even mess with the front country, it's an ATV free for all.
