Anyone have any info on this hunt? I have been down once already scouting. Pretty hot and dry. Hopefully there are a lot of monsoons this year to fill up the tanks. My question is, for day after Thanksgiving hunt, is water still a key component to where the elk are? I talked to a couple outfitters, they boast huge success, but it seems they use several people glassing different areas. I am trying to DIY and go at it. Been elk hunting many places many years, it will be the first time in Arizona.

Water will always be a key component, especially up there. Last year in 22N, you couldn't sit on a tank without seeing elk. It is just a matter of how big of a bull you're looking for. You're best option to find a larger caliber bull is to glass up high, find them hanging out in timberlines, possibly in between finger's where water runs down, or...if you're just looking to fill a tag, it's a safe bet that a spike or a branch antlered bull will come to the tanks almost everyday.
