I too have 3 sweds. I have shot the blue box ppu before but was not impressed with the accuracy. I can get consistent 1/4-1/2" groups @100yds. with federal gold medal match 93gr. I'm not fond of the light bullets but they definitely shoot well. Just figured I would give the ppu match line...
Hello, has anyone had any experience with PPU brand Match Line ammunition? Found some on the shelf for 6.5x55 swedish (which is never in stock around here) and thought i would give it a shot. Anybody have any experience with it?
Don't have a lot of experience with this because there isn't any public land within 70 miles of where I hunt, and we own all of the property we hunt. Having said that, if I found this on our place I would absolutely call it in.
7mm-08 has just never been as popular around here as anything .30 caliber. And I feel you with the 6.5 business. It irritates me when I hear guys talk about how "revolutionary" the creedmore is when 6.5x55 swedish has been around since something like 1891.
Right, yes I agree you can find basically anything online. I like being able to walk into a store, pick it up, look at it and have several different choices on bullet weight, brand etc. 308 is in stock anywhere that sells ammo in South Alabama and typically a wide variety. 7mm-08 is in stock 1...
All the gun stores got run out of town by pawn shops but I did see a tang safety Ruger light weight in 30-06 with a Nikon scope not long ago. Had wear marks but the bore looked good. $650 negotiable.
However, same pawn shop had a Remington wing master that had been used A-lot with a washer tac...
I had a 7mm-08. No complaints with the round but I sold it and bought the exact same rifle in 308 solely because it was so hard to find a variety of ammunition for it in store.
Killed my first with a single barrel 20ga. h&r topper model with brass bead sight I had gotten for Christmas. Think I was 8?
Remington 3/4 slug, dropped him at around 45-50 yards
Also, here is my deerslayer, a Remington wing master imp cylinder and a 37 cylinder bore with a seller&ballot slug just to give some scale on the bore differences.
The deerslayer is pretty tight, at the muzzle anyway.
I've got 2 old (1962 &1964) model 37's. One is a deerslayer long barrel the other is a standard cylinder barrel. With using Hornady, Winchester, or seller&ballot foster type 1 oz. slugs it will consistently put all 5 inside a paper plate @100yards. Most of the time if I'm steady enough I can get...
