I make custom knives in my spare time. Money I make on them goes into my hunting / outdoor recreation fund. Working on knives is very relaxing after a day at work. Haven't been in the shop recently due to remodeling my house and the wife is telling me to take a break from the house and go out in...
Only thing that I can see is the neck might look a little on the skinny side, but I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned something being off. Looks good, and great bull!!
I've been hunting public ground in the southern end of the state. Neighboring land owners I've talked to have been complaining about the bobcats getting into their chickens. One had a litter of kittens behind his barn. So I'm guessing the population is pretty high in some areas.
I was asked by several hunters with deer leases in Michigan to try and reduce the coyote population on their leases and surrounding areas. They had more yotes per square mile in that area than I've ever seen before. Most of the ones we killed were sick with mange, which if I understand correctly...
Hopefully they will make it concurrent with deer season. I've seen several while deer hunting the last five years or so. Only bad thing would be that my Indiana public land deer gun (.450 BM.)wouldn't be very fur friendly!
I've had excellent results with 175 lrx out of my 300 win mag. on elk. Easy to work up a load and plenty accurate . They claim to expand down to 1600 fps but personally I'd shoot for at least 1900-2000 fps at impact just to be safe. I have not shot the ttsx .
I've used Atsco and Scotchgard both with good results. I use it on my cold weather hunting clothing which is water resistant. It makes it even more resistant plus snow doesn't stick to it. I spray it about 3-4 weeks before hunting season and let em hang outside under the porch roof to air out...
I prefer my browning hells canyon speed clothing. It's performed very well for me from elk hunting to deer hunting. Plus I got it super cheap on clearance. I don't worry about the camo pattern on my hunting clothes as long as the clothing keeps me comfortable
50 cal. kit gun I bought super cheap cause the bore was rusted out and pitted pretty bad. Was going to turn it into a black powder shotgun but discovered its actually pretty accurate considering. I shot my muzzleloader deer with it four years in a row with it now. 120 grains pyrodex with 245...
Have a machinist friend who does gunsmithing. He turned a 30 cal barrel blank down to match factory contour. Trued up the action/bolt and did his normal accuracy enhancing "magic"Had him make it 24" instead of 26" as I run a suppressor. Shoots less than 1/2 moa if I do my part.
For cheaper/softer steels I use a grizzly razor edge sharpmaker wheel set mounted on a 8" bench grinder. Quick and easy razor edges. For my high end / harder steels with super hard wear resistant carbides I use diamond hones in a customized sharpening jig similar to a worksharp guided sharpening...
