    Fixed Index Annuity

Annuities are a hard no for me. Just do a bit of research with Dr. Google and you’ll find a plethora of articles explaining why they are a bad deal…

    Clear vision optics scam site?

This totally looks too good to be true and I assume it’s a total scam. NL Pure’s for $942…no way that’s possible. Wonder is anyone on here knows anything about this outfit? ClearVisionOptics

Possible deer to human CWD transmission

Not conclusive, but for as long as CWD has been around, this is the first odd occurrence, that I am aware of, of possible cross-species transmission to humans: Two hunters contract CJD with possible causal link to CWD contaminated venison

CO Estimated Harvest Stats are up

I really don’t understand why states use a few surveys to estimate harvest rates. It’s an archaic method with huge error bars. It’s 2024 already and the technology to have mandatory reporting through a cell phone has been around for at least 10 years, probably longer. Here in NJ, there is...

    Curb> Seinfeld

Hard to say which is better. Both awesome shows and Seinfeld is one of the best TV shows that ever was. Curb is also excellent and I do find it funnier, but this is a different era. It wouldn’t have worked back in the Seinfeld days. Curb is pretty much Larry David unfiltered and he held himself...

    Montana combo draw odds

$1,242 for a NR general big game combo versus the $36 that you pay to hunt the same things is hardly a “free for all”.

    American Cities

Boston is pretty great. IMO best of the major cities in US by far.

How many deer can you kill in your home state?

I’ll keep it simple for NJ. It’s unlimited antlerless deer with some exceptions in certain zones. For bucks, it was 6 until this season and it goes to 7 next year. It’s stupid how many deer one can kill here. For guys that just want to do a meat hunt, I doubt there is a better deal anywhere in...

Three defendants ordered to pay $137,000, lose hunting privileges, serve jail time for poaching

Glad they got them. Fines and jail time however are woefully inadequate in my opinion. They should have had much stiffer financial penalties and a heck of a lot more jail time.

Lugging base camp into the backcountry...

Hey all, So I'm considering lugging my base camp into the backcountry for this upcoming rifle elk season. Typically, I set my base camp at a trailhead and return to it each day. Sometimes, this involves a 3 to 4 hour hike back depending on where and how far in I'm hunting. Yes, I know all about...

    RIP Robbie Robertson

28 years to the day after Jerry Garcia’s death. Both had endless respect for each other and Jerry often covered Robertson’s music in epic fashion. Sometimes these legendary musicians seem connected on a higher level….

    GoHunt vs. OnX

When it comes to mapping, OnX for me is superior. Like others, I also tried GoHunt mapping but I went back to OnX. Research tools on GoHunt are definitively a lot easier to work with, but Toprut isn’t bad.

Mr buddy heater for tent camping

I run it all night in my Kodiak tent if needed as well. I also use a CO detector in the tent for added safety. Totally comfortable with it.

Role playing games. D and D

I have no shame in admitting that I was a D&D nerd occasionally as a kid while growing up in the 80s. Kept up with until about my sophomore year in HS. Then it faded for a decade and I didn’t get back into it until EverQuest(EQ) came into the scene in 1998 and I did play that for a couple of...

    Belated Honeymoon to Italy

My motherland, spent half my childhood in Italy, born in a small village near Napoli. I travel back there from time to time. Amazing and beautiful country, very different region by region. You and your wife are going to love it. Here's some suggestions and as others have said, be sure to get...

SKRE vs. KUUI vs. SITKA vs. First Light

Couldn’t agree more. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to gear and I haven’t regretted ever the money I have spent on high quality outdoor clothing like Sitka. In fact, I believe that in the long run, it actually ends up costing less than cheap alternatives that need to be...

SKRE vs. KUUI vs. SITKA vs. First Light

Probably boils down to personal preference. I have a ton of Sitka gear and some Kuiu. Both fit an average height, slim guy, like me very well. Overall though, I prefer Sitka because for me it seems to be much more durable.
