Now you tell me they came back during the day we went home early to get a round of golf in and hang out some more! Haha, damn that's brutal and congrats to the hunter who got a harvest from that other herd.
Thanks to this forum, I've gotten to know Hank (Hank4Elk) both online and in real life, which is quite the treat. We've shared our appreciation for Catron county, hunting, and the stories that make up our lives. One of those stories is that I'm pretty much an adult onset hunter and have been...
My son and I drew 4 tags, 3 of which are in our home unit and I finally get to hunt NM bull elk. Huzzah! A new hunter I am encouraging drew unit 2 bull but I know nothing about that area (or why he chose it). If someone here has general advice for the unit and dealing with the private land I'd...
Sure looks like it and the bull is dead. But can you tell us more about the shot, as in was the entire path through meat or did it hit bone?
What cartridge, 30-06? 300WM?
I just recovered my first Barnes (7mm08) and it had a full opening but it went through one shoulder. It's a small sample...
I've run into delays getting messages out but usually when I am in a valley. It is definitely not quick and quite annoying.
I love every other Garmin device I have but it feels like the mini took some shortcuts to just get the old inreach packaged into a small form factor. And don't get me...
When I showed that photo to a big fan of floorless setups he responded that the good thing about floorless is that," they [snakes] can come in and just leave. They don't get stuck."

I've ridden out 60mph storms in mine but the whole damn tent was flexing hard into us. When we woke up the rest of the campsite tents were either destroyed or magically gone.
Regarding the Buddy Heaters, don't forget these are catalytic heaters and therefore very safe to use inside. Leave a...
This guy was in a buddies tent on a recent backpacking trip into the Gila of NM. He's a herpetologist so he remained calm enough to get the photo and relocate the snake.
Zip your tent doors people...
10x14 is perfect for 3 people on cots and I run with a buddy heater if really necessary. Also buy a 10x14 tarp for the INSIDE to make cleanup a breeze.
Awesome and congrats! I had a hunt on the small missile range portion 5 or so years ago and it was so much fun. I miss that meat.
And I hope you are prepared to fend of offers to help (me included) because this is such a neat opportunity.
I'm guessing that big gray garbage can was for thrown away parts. Did they have a rule of thumb for what went into there instead of the trim trays? Other than silver skin and bloodshoot meat, of course.
