If a 40" mule deer is truly your goal, then I would drop what you are doing, spend 8 years in school to become a doctor, work like a dog for the next 40, then buy the Henry's auction tag and hire Doyle Moss's great grandson.
Short of that, your goals are about as realistic as dating Kate Upton.
Hell no!
If they had Clinton's team, they never would have been charged in the first place.
They had to settle for Johnnie Cochran and win the old fashioned way.
If you can hang on for a little bit more, I've started to see Big Game reappear. No Hunter yet, but BG is getting back on the shelves.
That aside, H4350 is pretty close in burn rate.
I wouldn't start a LW rifle build with a Savage. Your re-stocking options are much fewer than a Remington 700. I think you can find a McMillian Edge for most of the Savage actions, but you'll be plunking down $600 or so for it.
Other rifles like 700's and 70's have the options of Bansner...
I would get a 9' 4 or 5wt rod that breaks down into 4 pieces. You could go 8'6" if you want, but no shorter.
Lots of guys will tell you to get a 2 or 3 weight or a shorter rod. For all-around use, they are wrong. For example, at backcountry lakes you will often be fishing from shore and need...
At the rate they are going, I would bet we have permanent resident bears in the breaks within 10 years. They've moved out quite a bit in the last few. Verified sightings along the Marias/Teton/Missouri rivers out to the Ft. Benton area. Verified grizzlies in the Sweetgrass Hills.
I think...
It's got nothing to do with "being king." I'm still "king" with my Marlin 45-70 guide gun shooting Buffalo Bore ammunition. But not having to fight for the throne is appealing.
7828 and any bullet you want from 150-180 grains, Retumbo for the 200's.
I've tested several others, but none have matched both the accuracy and velocity of 7828.
Most people I talk to about it aren't upset that bears exist. But their expansion bothers them.
And really, I can see that. It is nice to be able to camp/hunt/fish in places where you don't have to worry about bears. That said, their presence never keeps me from recreating in bear country...
