We use one 14 x 16 tent for sleeping in and one 14 x 16 for living space, cooking, and if the weather is nice enough we cook under the awning, makes a huge tent but well worth it if you have numerous people in camp
John, I use a product on my tents that was intended for waterproofing porous concrete and it works amazingly well for canvas, its water based so you can put it on with a sprayer, it lasts atleast 2 years before next treatment. The product is a rustoleum product, Okon W2
The stitching and the flap connectors and just the tent in general shows better quality, we`ve used these tents hard for 15 years and we have had no issues with them, the Davis tent has also held up in the last 5 years

Obviously they stay in those areas for a certain amount of time, probably not their year round home, there are 2 times of the year that elk rub trees, the first is when they are shedding their velvet and the second is when they are beginning to shed their antlers

we have quite a setup, two tents end to end with an awning, one tent is the sleep tent and the other is the living area and under the awning is the cook area unless the weather is bad

We use 2 , 100 quart coolers for each elk, that will also give you room for ice, remember to keep them in the shade as much as possible and the ice will last longer, also the bigger the cooler the harder it is to load after its filled
