    Feral horses in Nevada

Thank you Randy, for addressing Nevada feral horses in your most recent antelope hunt video posted on Fresh Track+. Feral horses are displacing Nevada’s native species at an alarming rate. Unfortunately I don’t think our politicians have the stomach to address the issue. Nevada congressman...

Randy helped me get a bull

Haven’t posted in a couple years but have been reading some of you folks posts. Randy spotted this bull about 10am last Thursday. He was headed to bed and we couldn’t change his mind with our calling. Managed to connect on him about 6:00pm. You will be able to see the action on Freshtracks.

    Son's First Antelope

My son drew his first antelope tag and shot his first buck. His godfather, Jerry was along for the hunt and this always makes things more fun.

    NV Late Season Buck

Brad is a coworker of mine and this year he drew a late season NV mule deer tag. He had not hunted this spot before but decided to give it a try on opening morning last week. This deer had kickers on both sides but the one the right side was broken off. He had a couple other broken points but...

    My Son's First Buck

When I was in my 20's, 30's and 40's I was blessed to take several kids out to get their first deer, chukar, trout, etc. These youngsters were the offspring of friends or coworkers that didn't hunt or fish but were fine with having their kids exposed to it. It was always a treat to see how they...

    First elk for Jerreep

Jerreep and I were hunting with Fin in southern Idaho two weeks ago. We headed home on Sunday and Fin headed to his Wyoming elk hunt. Jeerreep had an Elko County Elk tag and the season was slated to open the following Sunday. So we decided to leave my truck, camper and trailer packed with...

Son's First Limit on a great hunt

Went sage grouse hunting Saturday with my two boys and their God Father, Jerry. It was a great hunt that ended with giant smiles, big blisters, and a greater appreciation for the freedom to hunt our public lands, I should have bought my Kenetrek boots in a size 11 instead of 10 1/2. We picked...

    BIG NV Bull Down

My friend Travis killed a big bull with his bow this week. As you will see in the pictures this bull is a lunker that died in a precarious position. This stud measures over 385. Travis called him from 1000 yards down to withing 20. The bull was dead 40 yards later. Enjoy the pictures. Scott

Fin's article in RMEF Bugle Magazine

Did anyone read Fin's article in RMEF Bugle Magazine? "One Thousand Reasons to Hunt Elk This Season" starts on page 42 of the Sept-Oct issue. Just got mine in the mail. Another well written article by the busy guy promoting our sport. Good job Randy! Long live the OYO hunter.

    NV Elk Down

Sorry no horns. I took this cow yesterday evening. Same spot Randy and I filmed the longbow hunt in year one. This is a well fed heifer.

    Kids1st NV deer

If you live in a state that does not have tags set aside for youth; lobby that they start. Nevada is one of the more difficult states for adults to draw a deer tag, but luckily we make it easy for kids to draw because of our youth tag program. The following three “first deer” pictures are of...

Hunt Talk gathering at RMEF elk camp?

If you are attending RMEF Elk Camp this weekend, do you have any interest in getting together Saturday evening? This would be something simple like meeting at a pizza place after the show closes. Jerry (from episodes 2, 5, &10) has DVDs of OYOA's first season that would be playing on the TV. He...

    Nevada muzzle loader buck

My friend Jeff drew his first muzzle loader tag this year. He took this buck at 75 yards while his dad and oldest son looked on.

    My kids firsts

I have never put a picture on HUNT TALK so I hope I do it correctly. This is suppose to be a picture of my two boys taken 14 months ago. Logan is holding his first sage hen and Calvin with his first limit. They were very proud because the birds were taken on the wing.
