Just curious, how was your hunt? I hunted it in 2017,3rd season and pretty much saw no elk. I'm hoping to go on an elk hunt in 2020 and I'm trying to decide if I should try 65 again, pick a different unit or go to a different state entirely.
Love my a6000 but the battery life is not great. How many batteries will obviously depend a lot on how much your using it. If your using it a lot and doing some video as well it could use a battery per day. If your just snapping some photos every once in a while 3-4 batteries should be fine...
As this was the first elk hunt I went on I am trying to decided if I am a terrible elk hunter or it was a off year! I saw one the night before season just as it was getting dark, took off as we were coming down the trail from scouting. The next morning I glassed a cow in the same drainage and...
Don't know if you read Damon Bungard blog about his Alaska caribou. If you haven't it has a lot of great info, https://www.orioncoolers.com/diy-alaskan-caribou-hunting-adventures-part-1-getting-there/
Good luck on your hunt. My brother and I were in 65 for 3rd season elk in '17. Definitely recommend being in good physical shape and cutting down on weight as much as possible. The terrain is beautiful but tough!
Loved reading about your hunt! There were so many similarities in our stories. I'm 33yrs old and went on my first Co elk hunt in 3rd season as well. Didn't bring any meat home but don't regret going a bit. The memories my brother and I made and the time spent climbing the Co mountains will be...
Yea the weather was pretty warm! I had some spots picked out on the map and my dad had told me we wouldn't be able to get there that late in the year because of snow. Well we got there and we camped at 11000 with just a patch of snow here and there.
Hey was just curious how guys did on 3rd season Co elk in the southern part of the state. I hunted 3rd season in a unit that my dad used to hunt years ago when we lived there. Also had other family that hunted there as well and did pretty decent. My brother and I went elk hunting for the first...
Hey thanks for all the help guys. Unfortunately when she heard what the weather might be like she wasn't too excited about it. We like to go on adventure trips, and have done camping in some pretty chilly weather, but on this one we had decided we would try for a more relaxed one in warm...
Thanks for the suggestions! Any idea what the weather is like in late March? My wife isn't picky about where we go, but after a upstate NY winter she would prefer to be somewhere a little warmer.
Hey guys, just checking to see if anyone would have some recommended activities or spots to check out in AZ. I am in the process of planning a trip to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in mid to late March. We enjoy outdoor activities and seclusion, so not really into resorts. Some good...
