For their sake it would have been nice if TSA had found the ammo before they left the US. I agree a person needs to aware of the laws in any country they're traveling to or even just going through, but when it's an unintentional mistake... be reasonable. When you're leaving the island, you have...
Sometimes I think I spend too much time on HuntTalk and then I find this story for the first time - I need to spend more time on HuntTalk! I should be working but this was too good of a hunt to stop reading. Thank you for sharing the great adventure and photos, most of all Congratulations!

Back in the late 70's I got my first compound bow for hunting, a Martin Archery Cougar from the factory in Walla Walla, WA. I've also had Mathews and Bowtech compounds. Due to shoulder and back issues I've become a rifle-only guy. So, I'm a has been, but archery is a great...

For hunting it's been the 7 SAUM or 300 RUM primarily. For PRS it was the 260s, then 25 Creed (still in use) and the Dasher is the newest, just getting started there.
I agree with you on bolt actions being the way to go. I'm not anti AR platform, I just can't fall in love with them like bolt action rifles. I did have a 6.5 Grendel that was crazy accurate, but my 223 sits in the safe for the vast majority of the time. In centerfire the ones I'm remembering are...
I'd definitely look into @p_ham on here. A few other suggestions, TS Customs in South Dakota, Short Action Customs in Ohio, Preece Precision in Utah and Oregunsmithing in Oregon.
Africa used to not appeal to me, then I went and hunted there and very much enjoyed every aspect of it. I've hunted there twice now and from what I've seen there is nothing that goes to waste, they keep and use everything on every animal. I would like to bring some of the meat home, but between...
