We all say get 2 miles from the truck and your good. Not so true anymore. We spike camp in to avoid all the miles in and out and it still hasn't helped the last few years. My hope is most of the guys will go find easier ground to hunt after a few trips in there. Probably wishful thinking.
Sounds familiar. For years we saw very few people in there until recently. Last year we thought we would go in on the second weekend to avoid the craziness of it all. In the first half of the first day I think we found 4 elk carcasses from hunters, a grizzly and a wolf. We packed up and left the...
Try Blue Cosmos out of Seattle. You can fill out the app online, super easy. Used them for the last few years, they do what they say. We use the Iridium. When hunting in places with no service I will gladly pay a $100 for a week, especially splitting it a few ways.
Saw the very end of "Life at Table Mountain" this weekend, the testimonial from the hunter at the end of the show says it all- "All private property & ranches which I prefer, I don't like to hunt public land" his 16th year with that outfitter.
Can you imagine16 years of that- I'm sure his...
Very Nice, congrats!
You have any trouble figuring out the load shelf with all the straps? I bought the 5100 a month ago and ended up shooting a bear a week ago and wasn't real familiar with the pack. Ended up in the dark trying to figure all that out for the first time. I think I got it now...
I bought the 5100 Sky about a month ago and will really give a try this weekend, leaving for western MT tonight for a quick hunt.
Love it so far without really putting it to the test- weighs next to nothing. The only thing so far I'm not loving is the pockets on the inside as Bart mentioned...
I've carried the S4 for the last 2 years. The wide straps are not an issue, it's very comfortable and easy on/off. Not crazy about them though, I am looking at switching to the FHF this year.
COP Keating was closed in 2009. It was based in the Kamdesh District in an in-defensible location at the base of 3 mountains. 2 Medals of Honor were given to soldiers just from the last attack on the outpost.
Thanks for your service and be careful!
Just finished the Jake Tapper book The OUTPOST. I encourage all to read it, very heartbreaking story, really pisses you off when you hear what these guys went through.
Thanks to all that serve!
Last few years for our SW MT archery hunt be packed in for 2-3 days at a time, when we came out we crashed in a cargo trailer on our cots. Wasn't real nice compared to setting up a nice camp but we were able to stay mobile and find elk. Was very simple and quick set up.
In the back of my truck...
