I've also been shooting the Barnes 150gr in my .308 Win. The have been shooting great! I was wondering what limits you put on your shooting distance for elk with the .308 win.
My main go to is a .300WM shooting 168gr Barnes TTSX's handloads. This setup has killed several cow elk over the years. If my new custom .280AI is done by October, I'll load it up with 145gr Barnes LRX's handloads.
Just my 2 Cents. I am running a 2 pin vertical pin sight right now from BG. I like it but have shot a 3 pin horizontal sight. The 3 pin felt better to me. Having the 20, 30, and 40 locked down with the slider available for further shots seem to impress me as a great setup. Some might say that...
I would recommend going into the bow shop (prepared to NOT buy anything) and just talk with them. They will show you the models they sell, answer your questions and help you gain knowledge on compound bow setups. They will most likely let you shoot the bows in their shop. After you leave go...
One gun to do it all... Would have to pick my .300WM a lot of versatility. Capable of around the world hunts. Still fielded by the US Military meaning tons of ballistic study on the capabilities of the round. .30 cal making reloading supplies more available (depending what's going on in the...
+1 for Grim Reapers. I have shot quite a few deer and a few elk with them. Short blood trails and good penetration. They shoot well and have performed as advertised.
I'm running a BG dual trac 2 pin. First pin is 20yds and the second one is 40yds. I do like it's clarity and lack of clutter. My one callout is gapping for a 30yd shot. My last elk I killed was at 25yds. I didn't dial the sight but just held between the 20 and 40 yrd pin. (This is a shot I...
I have been running Grim Reaper 125gr mechanicals for around 15yrs now. They shoot like a field point. Accuracy is amazing.I have not had any bad experiences or lost game animals as others have mentioned. All of my shots are 40yds and under with most happening between 20 and 25yds. I've taken a...
