Nov. 25 was opening day for late season bull elk here in AZ. It wasn't a very long hunt for my son and I. I was walking up a hill when i heard a branch snap. I dropped to one knee to see three elk walking my way. All bulls, a spike and two 5 pointers. I waited for the elk to walk into an opening and let the crosshairs settle on one of the 5s. The shot couldn't have been more than twenty five yards and he couldn't have run much further than that. My hunt was over at 7:30am! About a mile away my son shot a broken 6 point at 9:05am. Sometimes things just work out.

Great job, both of you! You got to love that little dusting of snow to make critters stand out a bit better.

If I'm not mistaken, you've drawn elk something crazy like 3 straight years? I'll have my license and info to you in plenty of time before the deadline. ;)

DDD, our luck may have run out. Elk tags will be a 1000 fewer next year and with the online application process up and running, draw odds will be much lower. What the hell, we can start applying in a week or so. Looking for 4 in a row!
