I gave it my best shot. After scouting 4-days and hunting 16-days, I shot a buck and headed home. He wasn't the monster I was looking for but wasn't bad. What a great area to be fortunate enough to hunt! I rented a small cabin for my base camp and then spiked out from time to time. Here are some pictures from my hunt.

A little less luck involved when you put in that kind of effort. Nice buck.

I've been thinking about how your hunt went...nice pictures or the area!

Did you find it difficult with the full moon? We did. We found four bucks the weekend before the opener that we guessed were close to 200". After the 2-1/2 days of high winds and rain after that weekend, the bucks were gone never to be seen again. We couldn't find them. One guy from vegas hunted them the entire season and never got a glimpse. Another guy swears he has them on trailcam including a 230" non-typical but you know how things get exaggerated.

Anyway, I would say your hunt was successful. That buck looks heavy. I dig typical bucks that are heavy with eyeguards.

Thanks, for all the compliments and feedback. Answers to some of your questions: Yes! I had trouble with the full moon - nothing out in daylight hours. I also heard stories of a198" typ. taken by a local; "6 inches outside of his ears at 120-yds but didn't shoot" by a California hunter; I actually saw a picture of a 206" typ. taken by a local (It looked every bit that big); A 195" typ running with a 240" non-typ; etc. Dan is right on, he's 26" wide. The first and second buck pictures are the same buck. I walked up on him at 50-yds when scounting on Mnt. Wilson, Oct. 1st. Couple of additional notes: The large bodied buck with lopsided narrow antlers was a monster. Probably the largest bodied deer I've ever encountered. If you look close you'll see the mass of his antlers is huge. I believe his bases were over 7". Problem with him for me, even though I almost pulled the trigger on him at 210-yds, his left antler was just a crooked mainbeam with brow tine and small stickers. This was the kind of buck a guy is looking for in Lincoln, County, NV. It's too bad he was over the hill on antler growth. Secoundly, The large 3-pt in the picture right after my mountain tent, was a mature looking 28"+. He had small stickers on both antlers. Needless to say, I had one of the best hunting experiences of my long hunting career!

Thats a great deer. The first picture is decieving... That buck looks like he has some BIG ears. I'd guess he's 25-26 outside, yet his ears look like they're still an inch wider?

Great deer, really pretty cape. Congrats!
