Kind of dog?

I have been fortunate to have had three great dogs over the years: two black labs (Flutie and Maggie) and one GSP (Gus). I'm now blessed with a pointing black lab Bart. He does it all:

A Brittany and a Yellow Lab for me. I've had the same bloodline of Brittanys for 31 years. My Brit is 7 and the Lab is 12. The Lab follows me out in the morning irrigating but he is really slowing down. These pics are of Pilot, the best bird dog I've been lucky enough to own. I had to have him put down last September at 16 years old. We used to really cover some ground when we were younger.

That fishing dog is very cool. Never seen a pup do that. All the dogs are beautiful. Here is my 5 y/o GSP. I read some books and trained him myself. It was alot of fun and frustrating at the same time. I would do it again in a heart beat.

I've got an old lab that'll be 12 this coming spring. I might try to get him on a dove hunt when it cools down a bit this year, and maybe a lazy duck hunt one more time.

And a fireball 3yo Springer. She's a pretty good little retriever.

I have a 4 yr old weim and a 3yr old deutsche kurzhaar. The weim has pulled double duty and the DK will this year. I honestly couldn't ask much more of them for the way I hunt, they are part of the family.

Not much of a bird hunter, but have always been a lab fan. Have had 4 over the years, 3 black and 1 chocolate. Molly (almost 10) and Sara(2).

Amazed at how many people use labs. Growing up we had mostly pointers as well as brits, a springer, and some English setters. Did a lot of field trials and can't say I remembered ever seeing a lab but they obviously can do it and make really good pets. Hard to beat pointers IMO but as a general rule they dont make the best pets.

Nice to see a weim that knows what a bird is.

Yeah, she was tough to find. She came out of a kennel is South Ga that actually hunt tests their weims. The breeder's goal was to produce dogs with the normal weim temperment that compete in the field with any other breed. We were on a waiting list for 2 yrs to get her.

It is a shame to see field dogs reduced to pets through poor breeding. Weims, goldens, cockers, etc... have all suffered because of their looks.

Hello

Hello from Montana everyone. New member here, I hunt elk, deer, antelope , turkey and other critters when I draw tags, but my passion is upland bird hunting. I have a German wirehair pointer and a Large Munsterlander, also a pointing hound. Living in NE Montana, I am very lucky to live in what I consider the best upland areas in America.IMG_20140828_104658.jpg

haha so true. my choc lab does the same thing. he lets me kno when anyone or anything sets foot on my property. especially my wife. everyday, as soon as he hears her car hit the driveway, he has to run and meet her. you'd think he hasnt seen her in months
