The salmon fly hatch on the Yellowstone has been exceptionally large this year and the water is coming down. It is currently around 10K cfps. We are floating along at over 5 mph. The visibility is good enough for dry flies right next to the willows.
Here's one of our best fish so far. Over 20 inches.

Diane and I have been recreating with him for over three decades. He knows the Yellowstone River as well as any one these days.

I floated right below Yankee Jim canyon three times and once above.
This is me with a typical brown. We also boated 'bows, cuts and white fish.

We were fishing a large dry fly followed by a smaller dry fly. We boated about a dozen fish each day with most on dry flies. But a few were taken on hardware:
