California Hog hunting

Hello Hunt talk forum,

I am wanting to do some hog hunting, when I am not trying to duck, turkey, or deer hunt. any advice? I live in Los Angeles right now, and I am trying to keep the the traveling less than 5 hours. I heard good things about the Lompoc area. I would appreciate any tips, trick, or some good spots to hunt.

There are hogs up towards Lompoc and the southern end of the Los Padres NF.

West of Coalinga is an option too, but that may be pushing the 5hr limit.

Thank you for the tips, and I was thinking of going near, where you said. I'm just glad im on the right track. I will have to check out coalinga on onxmaps.

The Tejon ranch has hog hunts! And it's close check it out. I've heard it's not free.

We hunted Tejon this past May. Beautiful place, plenty of hogs, and great people. Its not free though.

Get to talking to someone on the Vandenberg Afb or Lompoc Rod & Gun club to gain access to Vandenberg Afb. There are a ton of hogs on that base and plenty of room to hunt, I know a few fellas that are stationed there that'll help you out if hunting on the base is an option you want to consider.
