I have been researching a new hunting area in the Badlands. After a lot of work, I have narrowed down an area I feel can produce some great bucks. It's tough to get into/around in and provides lots hiding places for bucks to grow old! I was surprised by the numbers of mule deer I saw. I had been told this area produces larger deer, but that the density was lower than I am currently hunting. It seems to have potential!

At the request of friends, I moved some of my mounts to their home/hunting lodge SE of Bismarck. This place belongs to the parents of my hunting partner, "upper deck" from HuntTalk. He is going to bring up some of his mounts from Kansas to fill out the collection. We have lots of wall space to fill yet!

Yep, that looks like the spot. Good luck!

You've got some nice mounts there, too.

I'm sure you'll have no trouble filling the rest of that wall space in the next couple of years if you continue like you have each season lately.

Sweet pics-is all that public?

ID Hunters,

Yes. It is about 90% public land in this area. There is very little private to worry about. The Badlands area in western ND has about one million acres of public land.

I am looking forward to seeing what kind of quality is out there over the summer!

Nice looking countryside. My folks have a place on Sacacawea near NewTown. It looks like deer country, whitetails too - especially near where their place is. Nice looking taxidermy collection!

Buschy, who are you trying to kid? You know you can't hunt in the national park. ;)

Seriously though, that looks like some good country.

As for the mounts, the caribou is my favorite. What a beast!

Greenhorn, when are you going to be there? I will run up and you can take me fishing.;)

Neat looking country! Breaks/Badlands/high plains country is nearly as appealing to me as high mountains. Now if I could just get a tag for someplace like that...

That is some gamey looking country for sure. Great looking mounts also!
