Another 50's moment Oak...did call Sightron today....sounds like a good value for the money...and Bear Basin's out of them

I just put one on a Ruger 10/22--its the rimfire model 3x9. Optics are quite good...
$115 through Midway...think I'll try an S III on a varmint rig in the near future.

thanks gundog...will check it out...the sightron tech I spoke with has been the best source to date. they have a 4.5x14x50 that's not an adjustable objective for about 340$...lots of eye relief and 95+ % light transmission...fully coated, lifetime warranty, and their tracking system looks sound
