I was reading through sportsmans issues and came along an issuue about forests fall silent under bush plan, clicked on it and seems like everyone that responded to that topic made fun of quiet_one who happens to be a good friend of mine. I know she a little off the bubble but that aint her fault, but everyone making a big issue about that which REALLY pissed me off, i am not the type that will ignore that type of stuff. I agree 100 percent with kkillingthings, the comments were rude, immature, and outright uncalled for,who are they gonna start kicking around next for bad spelling and such, i didnt know that there were so many perfect people in the world and they all happened on to this website, lucky us..............

I have to say something as well on the sportsmans issue that kk is talking about. Ithica started a good topic and Quiet_one made a coment and from there the people that posted on that forum were rude, crud and generally anal.
Since when does posting on a forum give other members the right to degrade a person just because others can not understand what that person has written?
I realize I'm fairly new to this site but if those people had been in front of me and said the same time I would have told them to grew up and at lease try to be mature adults. I thought this was a site were mature adults could debat topics in a mature way, maybe I was wrong about that!!!
If these guys had used thier brain they could have understood what Quiet_one had said, but maybe they are all so much smarter and so much better than the rest of us that they just don't see what they did wrong?

It doesn't surprise me one bit to see that sort of thing happening in SI. I myself have had some rude attacks made on me in there when I posted an opinion. As a result 99% of the time I stay out of SI. I hope Q1 was not offended, but if she is I'm sorry to hear it.

That said, HuntTalk is known for being one of the most un-PC hunting BBs at least that I know of. What makes us different is that everyone can speak their minds (including the a$$holes). Despite the fact that not everyone is the nicest or most polite around here, I would very much hate to see us start censoring this sort of thing and begin to lean the way of some of the more uptight sites.

That particular post has been closed. In general if I see other posts which get personnal (and quite frankly catty for that matter) I have a tendency as an Admin to just diump them in SI. In my opinion I'd rather see these guys get a forum of their own rather than have HuntTalk turn into something sanitized and pristine.

They ALWAYS get carried away. I'm not saying it's not wrong all I'm saying is I for one (and there are 4-5 others who help run this site who probably have as much or more to say about it than me) don't like what they are saying but I will defend their right to say it. This is because I have seen it one too many times. One person gets offended, one rule is changed to cater to them and the whole board turns into Disneyland.

Please know I am not taking personal stabs here at Q1 or you, both of whom I am very happy to see on this board. But I would rather be insulted once in awhile than have this place be sterilized. HuntTalk is special because it is raw and in your face. There needs to be a space like that for people to come to. If it isn't everyone's cup of tea that's a shame, but that is what this place is.

I liken it to a burger joint. There will always be that contingent of vegans who would like to see them drummed out of town. My suggestion, if you don't like meat, don't go to Burger King. Simple as that. If you go to SI, go there expecting to be insulted. (Personally I think they are mostly the masochist types in there anyway ;) )

I think it is quite eveident that KKs intent was to back her up. In the real world outside of SI, people give each other credit for the intent of their words over the details of how they say them. This is not another political discussion where you guys need to pull apart every word each other writes. Let it go.

Apologize to her or don't apologize to her, your choice. But this is not SI so if this thread turns into another nitpicky bullshit semantic circus, I'll lock this sucker down.

The intent was somewhat indeterminate. And I am pretty sure that neither you nor I would support somebody by labeling them as KKT did. My questions were honest, as I find KK's posts and labels on someone to be offensive, as stated. But I don't think KK's labels are merely "semantics" nor "details", as they are flat out rude, viscious, and terribly cutting.

If Quiet One is owed an apology, I readily apologise.

We at HuntTalk appreciate everyone's comments on this matter. Quiet One, ignore everyone's statements about you and keep on posting if you would like. In the real world some people are going to like you, some aren't, that's the way it goes.
