I like the idea that I can Manual adjust all the settings, but I think you may be able to with the Newest Digi's but I am not sure!

My digital camera can be used in full auto mode or all manual, whichever way you like.

35, but I would like to get a digital. Anyone know of one that can be used with a remote. I hate timers and Axl can't keep keep track of the timer either. ;)

mtmiller, I think there's quite a few out there that have remotes. I have one for mine, but it's just a little point and shoot.

Mine doesn't have interchangeable lenses but it is a 10x zoom lens. You're talking lots of dinero if you want interchangeable lenses.

That's for that obsolete 35mm. What you need/want is a modern digital camera.

The 35mm will never be out to date. The quality of film is still superior for big pictures, digital can make really clear pics till about an 8x10 but thats about it.

I have a medium format camera which is a heavy bastard, and i have a 35 mm camera. I also have the new Canon EOS Rebel X Digital with the 6.3 megapixels and it uses interchangeable lens. Currently I have an 800mm lens on it, which also works on my 35mm camera (which is also a canon).

Outdoorschick, you will not be disappointed with that new Rebel X, I love it! Except the price, I got mine for a little over a 1000 bucks.

Here are a few pics I've taken with my digital Rebel X:

What i do with my cameras is I first take a picture with my digital and then take the lens off it and stick it on my 35mm and take pics from it. Whats really nice about the Canon Rebel X Digital is that if you get a good enough memory card you can hold about 150 high resolution images and around 300 medium resolution. All those pics above are taken with medium resolution.

Once again, If you want a digital with interchangable lens I would Defiently get the Canon Rebel X Digital.

Theres a cannon A-1 digital IIRC. Uses all the same lenses as the regular A-1. Cost around $2000.00 again IIRC. I had an AE-1 but she took that too. Now I have an HP digi. 2.3 megapix. I want to upgrade bad.

Those are good pics WY, but I have a question. If you can get 150 high qualities, why wouldn't use the highest quality possible? I know you take lots of shots, but couldn't you delete the ones you don't like from the camera as you go? I would want to have the best quality shot when I get that opportunity of a lifetime. I am sure you have reasons, I am just curious and not very educated with digitals.

Thanks Oak. I am looking for an inexpensive one that I can just throw in the pack and not stress over it getting abused. What camera do you have an what is the pixelation (is that a word) ? Also, does the camera take multiple remote shots, or do you have to set it before every shot? That is how my camcorder works an I hate it.

35mm,digi and video. Olympus 35mm, Sony digital and Sony digital video. Scooped Adobe Photoshop 7 and Adobe Preimuer off the internet, you can do that legally in Canada. Got an HP printer and can turn out as good a quality as any photo lab.

mtmiller,
The reason I don't use high res. pictures is because I have a slow net connection in my part of WY, and my hard disk space on my computer. I have about 15 GB used up already on pictures, and quite a bit on music i stole from the music industry ;) .

As powderburn mentioned you can get a digital video camera and take pics with that. The quality isn't near as great but it will still work for most people. Here is a picture I took while videoing. It didn't come out that bad. I also took a few of this bull with film and it looks totally different, but that is with an expensive lens attached. I'll scan it and post it when I get time.

This bull was a lot closer when I videoed him:

I still like to use film for quality pictures, there still isn't a digital on the market that will match film. But for the recreational photographer a digital is probably best and most affordable in the long run for sure! I have 'em all and I love 'em all ;)

Sorry mtmiller, I didn't see your question until now. The link to my camera is in my first post, but it might not be the "beater" you're looking for to throw in your pack (although I do :D ). Yes, you can take as many pictures as you want without returning to the camera. It says the remote won't work from farther than 5m, although I haven't tried it. The remote also works the zoom lens, but I haven't found a situation where that would be useful. The remote is about the size of a stick of gum.

Thanks Oak. I did a quick scan and it looks like a very good camera. The price might be a little out of my reach right now. The irony is that I am headed out the door in an hour to buy a bow for the same price. :D No excuses if I miss now.

I am now wanting a digital camera. THe new Nikon D series is digital SLR adn some of them can use the 35mm SLR lenses. I am drooling. Of course they are pretty steep.
